He said there’s urgency in getting the bill passed right now ahead of the upcoming presidential election. He said Republican candidates promised to use the Eisenhower model of deportation. “They have promised to deputize local and state law enforcement … and basically re-enact a lot of the policy that was so disastrous in the first Trump administration,” he said.
